Parkside Pantry Receives Grants
The Bergen County office of Food Security recently awarded a grant of $15,000 to help build capacity for our food pantry so that we may continue to serve our neighbors in the region. Most of those funds were used to replace the original underground grease trap in the kitchen that was no longer functioning properly and impeding our ability to adequately clean pots and pans after cooking hot meals for our food pantry clients every week. We were also able to use some of the funding to purchase much needed kitchen equipment and a laptop for checking in our clients .
A previous capacity building grant by the county was also used to build the dry good pantry storerooms that now exist in our inner narthex (see picture at right). We are very grateful for these grants that have enabled us to build a long-term food pantry that will continue to serve those in need as Christ would have us do. Thank you Bergen County!
